Can the water pump in my pond shock me or my fish?
Posted by Pond Keeper
For some reason, I find it very odd to put an electric object in water.
Can a water pump either shock my whole pond , or me if I touch it?
Are those water pump built so they can’t shock anything? How do they not electrocute? Anyone ever got electrocuted?
Only if it’s damaged.
Most pond pumps run from a low voltage transformer, just in case the cable does get damaged. That way you only have 12V and no danger.

Pond vacuum. Any good???
Posted by Pond Keeper
Has anybody used a pond vacuum by this make " Oase pondovac3"
I want to know if it’s any good and can somebody recommend a good one.
I’ve seen pond vacuums, but I have never used it. My pond is really big, so I just remove all the fish and drain it each spring to scrub it down. Takes like 15 hours to complete the proccess!!!
I take scoop out the leaves every day or so, and throw a hose in the bottom about once a month to stir up what ever sits on the bottom, and scoop that out to.
But, I would also love to see if anyone has ever used a pond vacuum as well…

Pumping out my pond so I can dig it deeper and bigger. When it is full it’s only 4 feet deep. I put goldfish (baitshop) in there to eat the bugs when they get in the water. I needed dirt to make my barn level when I built it and dug a hole. This is where I get all my fill dirt for the yard. The fish didn’t die over the winter. And it was only 2 feet deep.
